Dear Parents and Community Members,
Friends of Wildcat Baseball (FOWB) is a non-profit 501c-3 organization dedicated to continuous improvement of the baseball program at Libertyville High School. The mission of the organization is to assist the High School Baseball Program and the baseball coaching staff in providing additional funds and effort to offer the finest playing facilities and opportunities available for our athletes.
We are proud of the Libertyville High School Athletic Programs and want to contribute to their continued success. We have a deep respect for the game of baseball and understand how our baseball program is an integral part of the high school and our community in general. We are family and friends of ballplayers and ex-ballplayers; we are fans of the game; we are advocates of amateur athletic programs; we are local citizens and businesses that recognize the positive benefits of having widely recognized sports success as part of the Libertyville culture. Membership in FOWB is open to all parents/guardians of Libertyville High School Baseball participants and all interested community members.
Past members and supporters of FOWB have contributed to accomplish some significant feats for the varsity field. Some of those accomplishments include: professional dugouts, brick wall between dugouts, right field brick wall, left field brick wall, and new score board. In recent years we have extended the warning track and added new batting cages. In 2010 new Hitter’s Eye Trees were planted in center field in honor of Gregg Sternaman, an LHS coach and community member. The Freshmen field at Nicholas Dowden had new infield turf added as well as new dugout tops through the cooperation of Libertyville Youth Baseball. The Freshman team is now playing a number of their home games at the Juniors Field at the LYB field complex.
We hope that you will become a member of FOWB. In addition, you can further support your student and the program by volunteering to help with the activities listed on the attached volunteer form. Our organization cannot survive without volunteers.
Friends of Wildcat Baseball meetings are generally held once a month and are usually hosted at the home of an FOWB member or at LHS. Check the website at www.wildcatsbaseball.com for up-to-the-minute meeting information. Parents, Members and community supporters are encouraged to attend the meetings to get information on the teams and to learn about upcoming events and fundraisers. Please join us. We look forward to your support.
Please complete the Membership Application, Volunteer Form and complimentary Wildcat Wish form and return them along with a check made payable to FOWB. We do provide an annual keepsake program for each player that includes team photos and season statistics. It is a great way for your son to remember his playing days at LHS. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at anytime.
Thank You,
Mark Coutre’
President
