Jim Schurr - Head Coach

Coach Schurr is entering his nineteenth year coaching on the high school diamond. This is coach Schurr's tenth year at LHS and sixth as the head coach. Coach Schurr's coaching career began at Elk Grove High School for four years where he served as head baseball coach and assistant in football and basketball. Coach Schurr went on to Niles North High School for the next five years of his teaching / coaching career serving as the varsity assistant in baseball and the head football coach for two years. Coach Schurr was a junior college All-American shortstop earning him a division I scholarship to Western Kentucky University. Coach Schurr's greatest joy in baseball is to see his student / athletes continue to play at the next level. A joy that's seen four players to pro ball and over two-dozen to the division I level. Coach Schurr holds an MS in Exercise Science and an MA in Educational Administration. Coach Schurr is the physical welfare department supervisor at LHS and also coaches the quarterbacks and receivers on the varsity football staff. Coach Schurr resides in Green Oaks with his wife Mary and has two sons Austin (A.J.) 13 and Nicholas 9.

Sean Ferrell - Assistant Coach

Assistant Varsity Coach Sean Ferrell played his college baseball and football at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from Northern Illinois University and a Master's Degree in Administration from Northeastern Illinois University. Ferrell is one of the Deans in the LST at LHS. He was the head varsity baseball coach at Grayslake High School for six years before joining the staff at LHS. Ferrell also coaches varsity football for the Wildcats where he works with the outside linebacker and defensive ends. Coach Ferrell lives in Grayslake with his wife Molly and children, Griffin, McKenzie, and the families newest addition. His favorite aspect of coaching is working with young people helping them to reach their potential as players and people!

Dan Gooris - Assistant Coach/Pitching Coach

This is Coach Gooris’ second year teaching and coaching at Libertyville High School. Coach Gooris played his college baseball at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. At Creighton Gooris was part of two regional teams in 1999 and 2000, and was a two-time Honorable Mention All-Conference Player in the Missouri Valley Conference during those years. Gooris left Creighton in the schools top ten in several pitching categories including: career wins, single season wins, career strikeouts, single season strike outs, games started, and single season winning percentage. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 8th round of the 2000 MLB draft but decided to return to Creighton. After graduating Creighton with a degree in marketing, Gooris was signed as a free agent by the San Diego Padres and played one year in their minor league system reaching the AA level. After his playing career, Gooris went back to school at North Park University to earn his teaching certificate. While at North Park Gooris was the assistant coach for North Park’s baseball team. Coach Gooris teaches physical education at LHS, and will be working with the pitching staff.

Tom Carlucci - Assistant Coach

Volunteer Assistant Varsity Coach Tom Carlucci is entering his fifth year coaching at LHS. Coach Carlucci played shortstop for four years at Illinois State University before entering the business world. Currently, Coach Carlucci owns a print distributorship in Lincolnshire, IL – Integra Print and Data Services, Inc. Coach Carlucci is actively involved in Little League and Boys Travel baseball in Libertyville assisting in the development of future LHS players. Coach Carlucci lives in Libertyville with his wife Danette and three sons, Nick, Luke and Joey.
